Morning Glory Farm

Produce doesn’t get more local—or fresh—than it is from Robert Boone’s backyard. Earlier this week, members of the Hollywood Farmers Market Board of Directors visited Robert’s small, yet beautiful, Morning Glory Farm, situated right here in North College Park. Since he started being a farmer in earnest—just a few years ago—he’s had many successful crops, including flowers, peas, corn, squash, tomatoes, and grapes, to name a few. His three bee hives have produced dozens of bottles of pure honey—and all of them “flew off the shelf” within an hour of the Hollywood Farmers Market opening day! Be sure to visit Robert’s table at our market for the most local, fresh produce in the market.

Residents with a baby on the way, or who have a friend or family member in that condition, should stop by the table of North College Park resident Christiane Williams where you’ll find a nice selection of home-made, knitted baby clothes in soft pastel colors. Chris expects to have baby bibs available also and will be using natural fibers in her creations. If your baby just happens to be a four-legged fur one (i.e., a cat, of course), you’ll also find catnip-filled knitted mice in two sizes. Other items for sale at the table include a vegetable crisper

Great Shoals Winery:

Local and regional farms grow the fruit that we use to make our hard cider, wines, and sparklings. We offer a wide range of products, some dry and some sweet, that showcase these familiar flavors. With over twenty wines in production, our tasting room is a great place to connect with our local farms and their produce

Went to the 1st day of The Farmers Market. WOW!
It’s about time North College Park had something to brag about right in our own back yard. I hope to shop here for years to come. It was nice to be able to talk and ask questions about the food I plan to feed my family.
Met lots of friends and made some new one.
Thank you to all those who made this happen!!!!!!!

  5. Mary Cook says:

Impressive! Citizen formed and citizen run. Nothing paid for by the taxpayers!
Thank you NCP Farmers Market Committee!
I’m heading over there soon for some more fabulous fruit and, perhaps, a cupcake … Or will it be a whoopie pie!

I love the diversity of the offerings. The veggie fritters and spring rolls are wonderful. The tea’s are really good and i would like to extend a special thank you to Cpl. Black and Cpl. Core for the outstanding service that they provided to the community at large. We are indeed fortunate to have some dedicated COPS officers in our community. Last but not least, thank you to Branchville Vol. Fire Dept. for coming with one of their trucks. Kids of all ages really got engaged with it and the kids received fireman hats. What a wonderful community we have with so many people coming together! Special thanks goes to State Sen Jim Rosapepe for cutting the ribbon for our Grand Opening celebration. Comm. for a Better Environment distributed complimentary produce bags to encourage and reduce the waste of plastic bags. It was a wonderful experience and glad to be a part of it.

What a wonderful gathering place for young and older, new comers and ole’ timers to the neighborhood. Friendly, attentive and caring are just some of what makes and separates this farmers market from the rest! They have a picnic table in the shade of the tree’s for resting from shopping or sitting to eat one of the delicious ready to eat meal offerings. Ample parking.
